Czech This Out!

To add to the international flavour and overseas experience within VLC, we warmly welcome Tomas Potesil to the Brisbane office. Tomas was born and educated in the Czech Republic, attaining a degree (MSc equivalent) in Transport Technology and Control at the University of Pardubice. He is currently in the final stages of completing a PhD and has 4 years experience in the transport modelling industry. In 2006 Tomas won the international thesis competition, Friedrich List Prize. Tomas has lectured at the University of Pardubice and got involved in public transport research. While there he introduced students to the OmniTRANS software and its application. Tomas then moved to the UK in 2007 and worked with Peter Brett Associates LLP on the Reading Transport Model, specialising in Public Transport modelling using the modelling software OmniTRANS. Later, Tomas was employed by Transport for London and during this time he worked on the analysis of the London transport models, modelling outputs for the Mayor's Transport Strategy, calibration and validation of sub-region models, amongst other projects and tasks. Tomas is very familiar with OmniTRANS, the software platform VLC uses for its integrated travel forecasting model, Zenith. Tomas' experience and knowledge of transport modelling and OmniTRANS is a valuable asset to VLC and we wish Tomas a challenging and enjoyable adjustment to life here in sunny Queensland. Tomas says:Since I first became acquainted with John Morris and Tim Veitch four years ago, I knew that I wanted to work for VLC. I was impressed with what VLC has achieved, by the company's future potential and the expertise and knowledge which I can gain so much experience from. I trust that the skills I have will continue to develop and will contribute to the success of VLC.
