VLC is participating in a Study of the proposed Melbourne Metro.
The Public Transport Division of the Victorian Department of Transport has commissioned VLC to use the Zenith model (within the OmniTRANS software platform) to evaluate the proposed Melbourne Metro scheme (a rail tunnel linking Footscray to Caulfield, via Parkville, the CBD and St. Kilda Road). A team of VLC transport modellers is currently enhancing the Zenith multi-modal travel model of Melbourne for the Melbourne Metro project, which can be utilised to evaluate a number of route alignments, stop locations, service frequencies and landuse strategies.
More information on the Melbourne Metro can be found on the Victorian Transport Plan website (http://www.transport.vic.gov.au/web23/Home.nsf/AllDocs/1949486ED60243A2CA257625001B33E7?OpenDocument)
