Brisbane Self-Service Bicycle Hire Scheme
VLC was commissioned by JCDecaux Australia to analyse existing and potential pedestrian and cycling movements within Brisbane's CBD and interactions with abutting areas.
The objectives of the study were to:
- Analyse existing walk/cycle movements in the study area and interactions with abutting areas;
- Provide estimates of total travel demands in the area as a basis for JCDecaux to estimate potential demand for use of the proposed facilities; and to
- Comment on the proposed facility locations in relation to the scale and pattern of existing and potential demands.
The study results and associated commentary formed part of JCDecaux's tender submission to Brisbane City Council to plan, finance, install, operate and maintain a Community Bicycle Hire Scheme.
The JCDecaux tender submission was successful.
Community consultation played a substantial role in the project which was structured and undertaken by VLC.
