Coomera Road Network Review

VLC were commissioned by Gold Coast City Council (then Albert Shire) to develop a series of transport network options relative to a number of land use scenarios for the Coomera area. Coomera has been identified as a significant growth area with a planned population between 85,000 and 100,000 people. It was seen as critical to the growth in this area that the structure of the land use and the transport system be developed interactively.

VLC delivered a number of transport strategy options which considered the following aspects:

  • principles for developing a transport hierarchy,
  • constraints and opportunities that the Coomera area offered,
  • integrated and efficient multi-modal planning, including transit oriented design,
  • functional requirements of public transport, trails and roads including implications on access management, and
  • concept design feasibility.

VLC established a transport model to test and refine the various network strategies derived from the issues stated above.
