Inner City Rail Capacity Study (Brisbane)

This study was undertaken in conjunction with PB. The objective of this study was to:

  • Identify a preferred integrated land use and transport strategy for inner city Brisbane, particularly in relation to the rail network;
  • Identify and assess options for future development of the rail network, including additional river crossing(s), and a new underground rail line passing under the CBD;
  • Support best value integrated transport and land use outcomes; and
  • Provide input to the 2008 update of the South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program (SEQIPP).

The study was undertaken in three stages:

  1. Stage 1 Strategic Framework Development
  2. Stage 2 Rail Network Concept Planning
  3. Stage 3 Technical Pre-Feasibility Study

VLC's involvement was largely in Stage 2 which involved:

  • Model calibration and validation - base year 2006
  • Future year base case model establishment
  • Option and sensitivity modelling.
