Local Area Bus Route Planning for Melbourne
In 2005 VLC were commissioned by the DoI to undertake a series of bus route planning studies for Melbourne's growth areas. This was a large study involving documentation of existing conditions, and existing and near-term bus route network deficiency assessment, stakeholder consultation and the detailing of recommended bus system improvements for 12 discrete growth areas, as follows:

- Point Cook
- Melton
- Caroline Springs
- Sydenham
- Craigieburn/Roxburgh Park
- Epping/South Morang
- Yarra Ranges
- Hampton Park/Narre Warren/Berwick
- Pakenham
- Cranbourne
- Mornington East
Most of the recommended bus service improvement initiatives were implemented in 2006.
