Gold Coast Road Network Strategy

Gold Coast City Council is developing a City Transport Plan, a component of which is a road network strategy for the City. VLC has taken an integrated approach to the preparation of strategic road network options which includes:

  • systematically progressing from 1996, through 2006 and 2011 to the long term (2031), rather than proposing a long term strategy with intermediate strategies as "sub-sets",
  • examining the structure of land use to maximise the use of energy efficient modes of transport and public transport ridership,
  • developing and testing an efficient network of roads within a functional hierarchical framework and broad evaluation framework that incorporates environmental, economic and social factors,
  • guiding the preparation of road investment strategies for the Gold Coast region, and identifying the road corridors that need to be protected into the future.
